East Meets West in Lucullen's '50's Inspired Spring 2010 Collection

Not only has Mad Men, AMC's series centered around an early 1960s advertising agency in New York City, garnered a huge television audience and numerous award nominations, it has also led to a resurgence of late '50s/early '60s style in fashion. Designer Joyce Huang adds Asian influences to the dress silhouettes of this era to come up with something completely new for her Spring 2011 collection for Lucullen.

Huang's fashion signature has been to create multifunctional pieces that allow women to elegantly transition from the demands of their workdays to their social plans for the evening. She uses Asian flourishes in her signature this time around to infuse her clothing wi women's jackets online th exotic textures.

"My last collection was very much influenced by the British Mod and Rocker styles of the 1960s. That collection had an edgy and rebellious flair to it," says Huang. "This new collection takes the classic line of dresses popular with women in the US in the late 1950s and combines this with traditional Chinese dress design inspired by the grand gathering of world cultures at Expo 2010 Shanghai. The result is a true East meets West mix that is soft and sensual."

The influence of the traditional Chinese cheongsam dress is readily seen in the necklines and shoulders of Huang's spring creations for Lucullen. From this design base, the pieces smoothly morph into classic A-line dress and skirt silhouettes. Most of the pieces are black or white or a combination of black and white. Three dresses in the collection are done in black and white watercolor-styled prints that give the pieces the appearance of wearable artworks. There are mini, mid-length, and full-length pieces in the collection.

Huang, Lucullen's head fashion designer, has successfully been creating various collections in Taipei, Shanghai, Toronto, and New York for more than ten years. She introduced her 1960s inspired Fall 2010 collection with a Lunar New Year fashion show in New York this past February.

Versatility has been a hallmark of Lucullen, a unique, high-end fashion brand, since its inception. As a result, it has achieved a wide appeal among women of many lifestyles.

Embodying a sense of strong global awareness and social responsibility, Lucullen has been actively involved in charitable activities, including its 2009 sponsorship of an AsianinNY.com benefit to raise relief funds for victims of the typhoon which hit Taiwan last summer and its sponsorship of the "Sing for China" benefit to raise AIDS awareness. Both events took place in New York City.

Lucullen will also host a special presentation on 9/17 Friday from 5~7pm for Media and Press to view the collections. For RSVP, please email: press(at)247feature(dot)com. For more information about Lucullen, please visit: http://www.lucullen.com

Topshop Releases Fashion Film for SS11

Topshop has joined forces with up-and-coming film maker Tyrone Le Bon and stylist Beth Fenton to create a fashion film which will showcase its trends for SS11. The film features two models, Kat and Esme, as they show off this season's hottest trends.

The film is designed to encapsulate the overriding feeling that spring is all about dressing up and having fun with fashion. It was shot on a mix of normal film and cinefilm and features an impressive soundtrack.

The video features styles that will be prominent in this season's collection and were selected by Beth Fenton as her Spring Picks. Tyrone Le Bon, film maker for the Topshop fashion film, commented: "The Topshop aesthetic is about being an individual, so we took this beyond the girls and the clothes we were showing and across into the filmmaking process too."

Say 'No' to Reckless Impulse Buying with Personal Online Shopping Directory

Anyone who uses the Internet for any length of time will eventually come across one -- an infernal "online shopping directory". Under the guise of helping online consumers save money on everything from computers to women's clothing, these "shopping guides" are, in truth, usually aimed squarely at draining the pocketbooks of their shoppers. And sadly enough, these so-called directories succeed in their goal because of the easily-manipulated, largely-impulsive nature of the Internet shopping community at large.

"For a number of specific reasons, online shoppers tend to be impulse buyers," states Dave Snyder, who, with wife, Heather, owns and operates bustawindow.com, a new personal online shopping directory offered as a solution to what they view as a growing Internet epidemic. "The fact that Internet consumers buy on impulse can be said especially of those who like to use coupons and other promotional codes. They get excited and think, 'I'm saving 10 percent with this purchase,' when in actuality they have, in many cases, spent more than they origin Tips: Find Street Fashion Online(may be you can find what you want on the oasap.com) ally intended in order to obtain that 10 percent savings. Unfortunately, many online 'deals' are offered with the specific purpose of getting shoppers to spend even more."

This is a fascinating statement by someone who makes his living pointing out deals to online shoppers. Snyder goes on to say, "The idea that some poor fellow has just spent his last hundred dollars on our Web site because we pressured him to do so makes us both a little sick. So, we don't operate that way."

Indeed, aside from the few deals listed on the home page, bustawindow.com appears to lack the usual hype typically found on similar websites. There are no banner ads, no pop-up ads, no "Buy Now!" buttons. None of the clutter commonly found on most online shopping directories.

Snyder states, "Everybody has to shop, and it's true that online shopping is a heck of a lot more convenient and earth-friendly than going to the mall. But if you come to our Web site with $50 in your pocket and no idea how to spend it, you'll come away empty-handed. You've really got to have something in mind before you start shopping our directory, and we have purposefully designed it this way. Our Web site, e-mail newsletter and Internet consumer blog are intended to be helpful tools, not sales machines. We actually hope we'll help our shoppers avoid making purchases they might later regret."

Snyder says his company's philosophy is in stark contrast to what marketing experts teach. Apparently for these self-proclaimed gurus, the established fact that people shop emotionally is simply another weakness to be exploited. "I've yet to read one online marketing expert who seems to have a problem with this. Ethics are never brought into the conversation. As they say, 'It's about making as much money in as little time as possible'. What about the family of the woman who just can't put a lid on her impulse buying? Do we care about them?"

An online shopping directory as a counter-cultural statement? It's certainly a different idea, and it's even got a few folks online doing some talking. Says Snyder, "We've already gotten a bit of criticism for our unusual methodology, but at least we sleep well at night."

Bustawindow.com users will sleep well, too, knowing that they've easily found what they were looking for and have even managed to save a bit of their hard-earned money in the process. All without falling to the excessive pressures of the impulse purchase.

About bustawindow.com
The website is a service of Bust A Window Projects, Inc., an Illinois corporation which also operates a shopping tips blog, nopaneblog.com. Since its inception in early 2007, the company has been focused on assisting Internet consumers in their online shopping endeavors while refusing to promote online stores that harm the environment, such as those which test on animals. One of the core competencies of the company is using and reporting back on websites listed in their directory. Existing write-ups are found in their growing directory of reviews.

New Book Release: "Once Upon A Time" with a Satiric Twist

"Once upon a time…" is a phrase children grow up knowing introduces a story not only of adventure and romance but of hu Tips: Find Street Fashion Online(may be you can find what you want on the oasap.com) man plight and peril, heroic effort and victory – and instruction.

Like many of us, Roberta Parry was fed as a child traditional folk literature, which she swallowed whole without question. But as an adult, introducing these tales to her daughter, she found some no longer went down so easily. In rejection of the image of and attitude toward women presented by the eighteenth-century grim brothers, she determined to right the record from the experience and perspective of a twenty-first-century woman.

FEMME TALES: Six short Sagas and One Long Story is a playful, irreverent, sometimes camp re-vision of the Grimm's tales. "Little Red Riding Hood" becomes "Little Red Jogging Suit," wherein a sparky girl and her spunky grandmother take on a wolf in sheep's clothing, only to find themselves victims of the legal/judicial system. In "Hannah and Greggo," closet-cousins of "Hansel and Gretel," a savvy big sister saves her innocent little brother from the clutches of a wicked warlock.

Other rightings-of-the-record include: "The Toad Prince or The Dog Princess or Hopeless Henry," "Sungold and the Seven Midgets," "AshesAngie," "Sweeping Beauty," and "Ms. Fisherwoman and Spouse," illegitimate offspring of "The Frog King," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Cinderella," "Sleeping Beauty," and "The Fisherman and His Wife."

May you read with a laugh – and a nod, Parry invites. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to http://www.Xlibris.com.

Crocs, Inc. Announces Grand Prize Winner in the New Crocs, New You Makeover Contest

Crocs, Inc. (NASDAQ: CROX) today announced Shelly Dana of Highlands Ranch, Colo., as the grand prize winner in the New Crocs, New You wardrobe makeover contest. Dana was chosen as the winner from ten struggling fashionista finalists who submitted videos explaining why they most deserved a fashion-forward, toe-to-head makeover in New York City with national style and beauty expert, Jenn Falik. Visit the New Crocs, New You website to watch a video of Dana's transformation.

From May 4 to 20, 2011, online voting narrowed the 10 finalists down to just one. Ultimately, Dana's story of her past battle with breast cancer, as well as her challenges losing weight after having two children, helped her nab the top prize. In the video, Dana recounts how after successfully combating breast cancer, losing a good deal of women's coats weight and undergoing a breast reconstruction surgery, she was left without clothes that fit. Through the contest, she hoped for a chance to build a wardrobe that would help her celebrate her new body. All of the finalists' videos can still be viewed at on the New Crocs, New You website.

As the grand prize winner of the New Crocs, New You makeover contest, Dana and a friend were whisked away in early June to New York City for a toe-to-head makeover. During her trip to New York City, Dana was pampered at Marie Robinson salon with a haircut, color and style, and makeup application and lesson. She also went on a shopping spree that included a stop at National Jean Company, where Falik shared tips with Dana on how to update her wardrobe for summer and dress for her new body.

"During our time shopping together, Shelly and I talked about ways women can take their warm-weather wardrobe to the next level and dress for their body types," said Falik. "For example, with simple, on-trend purchases in bright colors, like the new Crocs translucent styles, any woman can update her summer style, even on a limited budget."

Shoppers looking for additional tips from Falik on how to make the most out summer shopping trips can watch a short video on the Crocs YouTube channel at youtube.com/crocs.

Acupuncturist Reveals 7 Secrets to Help You Become A Park Slope Breeder

Monday's fertility seminar "Here's Why You're Not Preganat-9 Sneaky Causes of Infertility and How to Cure Them" was organized by Rebecca Cutis. Garden Acupuncture's Alexander Goldberg LAc, Dipl OM, was the key guest speaker. Having learned from one of the most successful fertility specialists in the nation, Dr. Randine Lewis, he led an in-depth discussion on how acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy and nutrition are used to treat infertility. He eloquently described the journey of becoming a mother in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), biology, emotion and spirituality.

Among the science and theory, he explained seven helpful tips to boost fertility.

1. Increase blood flow to your reproductive organs.
A stressful lifestyle pulls your body's blood flow and attention away from your reproductive organs. Acupuncture has been scientifically proven to direct blood flow back to your reproductive organs. This is necessary to have a normal cycle and a healthy pregnancy.

2. Get your hormones into balance.
Stress and diet are two of the biggest causes of hormone imbalances. Women with high stress life styles adapt to modern stressors by inducing the hormone prolactin, which stops ovulation. TCM helps bring the stress levels down which regulates hormones.

3. Improve emotional health.
According to TCM two of the most common organ systems addressed in fertility are the Liver and Lung. The Liver is related to anger, frustration, stress and desire. So, its no wonder why one of the most common TCM diagnoses is Liver Qi stagnation. The Lung is related to sadness, grief and holding on. Make sure to find time to calm your mind through acupuncture, yoga women's coats or meditation.

4. Avoid Dampness
Dampness accumulates in our bodies and causes blockages in the form of cysts and fibroids that make getting pregnant very difficult. Eliminate damp food like milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, ice cream, greasy foods and alcohol. Wet clothing, humid environments and moist basements should be avoided also.

5. Chart your cycle.
Charting your basal body temperature shows you many things about your reproductive health. You can determine when you're ovulating, whether ovulation occurs on the optimal day and if your body is at a temperature conducive for fertility.

6. Make sure your body is receptive to conception.
The popular image of a woman today is to be very thin, muscular and extremely active. This concept does not support fertility. The concept of fertility is to be warm, enveloping, holding, and supportive. If you are constantly expending all of your energy by working out, there is not enough left to support new life. Using TCM ensures the womb is warm, healthy and inviting.

7. Have a passive attitude toward thoughts.
The more emphasis we put on symptoms the more stress and frustration we create for ourselves. Having a passive attitude toward your outcome and being more conscious of your process helps you maintain balance.

The fertility seminar was a huge success with the help from local blogger, F'D In Park Slop. The group plans to contintue this lecture series this fall so click here if you want to stay in the loop: Garden Acu

Fila Embraces Continued use of Real Women in Body Toning Collection Ad Campaign: Six Women Selected from National On-line Casting Call

Fila USA unveiled the Fall 2011 Body Toning Collection ad campaign, which features six Real Women from across the United States wearing the expanded and highly anticipated fitness apparel line. This fall campaign launches the second year of Fila's national marketing and advertising campaign in which non-professional models represent the company's popular Body Toning System fitness apparel collection. Due to overwhelming response and support for the brand's first Real Women campaign and efforts to portray everyday women who inspire and relate to Fila's core consumer, the company expanded the casting call to an online format allowing for submissions on a national scale.

The online casting of "non-professional models ages 25 – 50" resulted in entries from over 36 states. Applicants submitted either video or photo entries accompanied by a personal statement. Fila executives narrowed the entrants to 20 finalists. The original Real Women from last year's flagship campaign selected the five winners during a live web-stream. To enable Fila's Toning Facebook fan-base to have a voice in the selection process, Fila integrated a "People's Choice" sixth winner into the casting call selection.

The six winning Real Women in Fila's Fall 2011 campaign include a single-leg amputee social worker/fitness instructor, a New York City Police Officer, a soccer Olympic hopeful, a fitness blogger, an amateur tri-athlete and a new mother who has rediscovered fitness.

Leading up to the fall campaign launch, the six winners participated over the summer in a 6 week pre-campaign Facebook program with each guest hosting a week long public interaction on Fila's dedicated Body Toning Facebook page.

"It was extremely satisfying to see how women across the country were responding to our winners on Facebook," stated Jennifer Estabrook, Fila's EVP Business Operations. "Real women deserve attention and respect, from the way we design our products to the forums that we engage to help better understand the most personal of their needs. Grantham University's own Tara Peel, an Admissions Representative, will be one of the eleven women honored.

Peel has worked at Grantham University for just under two years. Prior to Grantham, she served in the Army at Fort Hood and later in the Missouri National Guard. Watch her story.

"I have survived a lot of bumps in my roads and learned a lot of lessons along the way," commented Peel. "As an Admissions Representative at Grantham, I help other military members and veterans avoid some of the same mistakes I made."

Each veteran will be professionally styled, including clothing, hair and make-up, by local boutiques in the Kansas City area. The big reveal will take place this evening, November 11, at the National Airline History Museum located at the Downtown Wheeler Airport. The event begins at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are available for purchase on the Camo to Glamo Web site and proceeds will benefit the eWomenNetwork Foundation which provides funding to organizations that support women veterans.

"For over 60 years, the University has been committed to supporting our nation's service members, veterans and their families," said Joseph McGrath, president. Bella Cosmetic Surgery Pilots 3D Breast Augmentation Program

Advances in technology and techniques continue to improve elective cosmetic procedures and help result in shorter downtime, faster recovery periods, fewer side effects, less risk, and improved overall satisfaction with the results by the patient and their plastic surgery. Maryland is home to some o women's coats f the finest surgeons in the country, but one of the most common reasons for breast augmentation revision continues to be poor satisfaction on behalf of the patient when it comes to the way they look after the procedure and after the swelling has gone down. In an attempt to improve overall patient satisfaction, help guide their expectations, and encourage communication between the patient and their plastic surgeon, Crisalix Virtual Aesthetics is bringing a revolutionary 3D computer program that provides remarkably accurate and lifelike before and after photos for breast augmentation. Maryland patients can take advantage of the Crisalix Virtual Aesthetics software, which will revolutionize the way women prepare for their surgery and communicate with their physicians about what they want to look like.

Bella Cosmetic Surgery has been chosen to conduct a pilot study for Crisalix Virtual Aesthetics. The pilot program will make this revolutionary 3D software available to patients at Bella Cosmetic Surgery prior to their breast augmentation. Maryland patients will be able to have their photos uploaded into a program based on cloud software and see a simulated version of what they will look like after their procedure is complete. Similar photo programs and software have been available to plastic surgeons and their patients for many years, but 2D before and after photos still lack an essential element that will help the patient see exactly what to expect. The 3D element of Crisalix software is an enhancement that allows patients to visualize what their clothes will look like on their new shape. This is an important factor that influences pre-operative decisions such as how big to go, which type of implant to use, and other elements that need to be considered during your initial consultation visits. Plastic surgeons benefit from improved communication about expectations with their patient via the cloud-based software, ergonomic ease of use with intuitive software, and global access at any time through an Internet connection.

When it comes to breast augmentation, Maryland women are encouraged to contact Bella Cosmetic Surgery for more information and to learn how this remarkable software can help them with their plans.
