Grantham University Honors Service Members, Veterans and Military Families in November

The month of November marks the celebration of a few special military events including Veterans Day, the Marine Corps Birthday and Military Family Appreciation month. Grantham University, a 60-year-old institution delivering accredited online degrees to working adult students around the world, is celebrating the spirit of this month by giving back to wounded warriors in the local Kansas City community.

In honor of our nation's Veterans, Grantham University staff, through a grass-root effort, raised funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. 54 percent of the University's employees participated in this endeavor. The donation, along with a Veterans Day tribute video will be given to the WWP today.

Also happening today, is the inaugural Camo to Glamo event in Kansas City, Mo. Camo to Glamo was forged from a desire to help female veterans transition to business roles after completing their military service.

In honor of Veterans Day, eleven female veterans were selected by the Kansas City chapter of eWomenNetwork, The Radio DishTM, Event Directive, and Zrii Dream Builders International to be honored for their service. Grantham University's own Tara Peel, an Admissions Representative, will be one of the eleven women honored.

Peel has worked at Grantham University for just under two years. Prior to Grantham, she served in the Army at Fort Hood and later in the Missouri National Guard. Watch her story.

"I have survived a lot of bumps in my roads and learned a lot of lessons along the way," commented Peel. "As an Admissions Representative at Grantham, I help other military members and veterans avoid some of the same mistakes I made."

Each veteran will be professionally styled, including clothing, hair and make-up, by local boutiques in the Kansas City area. The big reveal will take place this evening, November 11, at the National Airline History Museum located at the Downtown Wheeler Airport. The event begins at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are available for purchase on the Camo to Glamo Web site and proceeds will benefit the eWomenNetwork Foundation which provides funding to organizations that support women veterans.

"For over 60 years, the University has been committed to supporting our nation's service members, veterans and their families," said Joseph McGrath, president. "Equally as important is giving back to the Kansas City community. Programs like the Wounded Warrior Project and events like Camo to Glamo give us the opportunity to support a population that i women's jackets s near and dear to us on a local level."
